Camping
Wow! This place is awesome! We stayed at Muskegon State Park which was in biking distance to a really great beach. We stayed on an inside loop and the site was private and wooded. There were also sites right on the lake that looked amazing! The Beach The sand was so soft and the water looked so blue. We thought we were in Mexico…until we felt the water! The water was about 55 degrees in the middle of July, brrrrr! The first beach day, we all jumped in the very frigid water. The kids were in and out of the water all day and had a blast climbing the sand dunes and trying to surf down them with their wake boards! We enjoyed a hike through the sand dunes one day, we all came back with sand everywhere! Other Attractions We had a couple days of raining and cloudy weather so those were great days to go explore the submarines and the ships in town. The first submarine we toured was the USS Silversides. The friends we were with, are big history buffs, this is an incredible tour for anyone that has an interest in history. The second tour we did was a ship called the USS LST 393. This was a great tour with an outstanding museum honoring our veterans. Lastly, we stopped at the Luge Adventure Sports Park. Even though it was summer, they still let you go down the track on a luge with wheels. Travis had a blast trying it out. We cannot wait to go back in the winter to try the actual luge along with all the other fun activities available in the Michigan winters!
