Camping We stayed at a very quiet campground called Mountain Trout Campground just south of Tobermory. The campground offered full hook-ups and was right on Gillies Lake. We spent a day renting a boat and fishing on Gillies Lake. The campground also had a nice swimming area with a fun obstacle course. Since we were visiting before the peak tourist season, the water was still freezing and the obstacle course was put out at the end of our stay. We still played on it, although the cold water temps. Tobermory The small town of Tobermory is on the tip of the Bruce Peninsula. It is a small tourist town surrounded by the Georgian Bay and Lake Huron. We didn't plan missing the tourist season, but we lucked out. We were told that July is extremely busy and we just missed the crowds at the end of June. Fortunately for us, we didn't have to fight for boat tour tickets or entrance into The Grotto so our timing was just right. Bruce Peninsula National Park We spent a day at The Grotto in Bruce Peninsula National Park. This is a very popular spot and during the busy months you can only enter on a reservation system. It is a great place to relax on the beautiful Georgian Bay. In June, we didn't have to worry about the reservation system and got to visit on a nice warm sunny day!
