We have been camping at Devil’s Lake for the past 13 years and my husband has camped there every year for the majority of his life. In all these years, we are still learning about new adventures in the area. This short hike will not disappoint! Unfortunately, the parks system had to close off part of the park because there were too many injuries with people cliff diving. You can still go to the lower section and swim in the cold water up to a waterfall. In the past you were able to hike up the hill and to the end of the trail and walk the river back. On the way, there are 5 small waterfalls you can slide down. Unfortunately, there is now a wooden fence blocking you from going that way. Every once in awhile you can still see people hopping the fence and cliff diving off the side (NOT RECOMMENDED). In the past, when we would walk/slide down the waterfalls there was debris from fallen trees and I can see why cliff diving would be very dangerous. This is definitely worth a visit though, it’s a really neat naturally made canyon that your family will enjoy to see. Parking is limited so if you have a big group, definitely carpool!
Pewits Nest closed April 2020 due to COVID-19, check the Wisconsin DNR webpage for up-to-date closure information.

Our biggest interests include camping, hiking, exploring our State and National Parks, and gardening. We raise chickens and tend to a few honey bee hives! Although we don't live on a farm, we try to embrace the idea of growing and raising our own food sources as much as we can. We are instilling in our children a love and respect for nature and adventure! I hope you enjoy reading about some of our adventures and I hope you get a chance to explore with your families as well!
